In the background, a crow stands on a stack of books, symbolising deep, heavy inner calculation and grief. Hyacinths lay on the table, another symbol of mourning. Eventually overcoming a difficult period or change, the crow looks out a large open window, suggesting a hopeful future. It is an observation of working through something and waiting for the outcome to arrive with optimism.
