This painting explores growth and the process of shedding. A woman, surrounded by dark, dense foliage and pomegranates, gazes out of the scene with a stoic and frozen expression. The pomegranates represent the pieces of a whole life, memory or experience. The rich complementary colours subtly heighten the intensity of the painting. Is she holding her breath or already exhaling the change? This painting holds the point between loss and renewal, where something has ended, but something clearer is beginning to form.

This artwork is painted on linen, in the finest grade lightfast oil pigments and sealed using Winsor & Newton Retouching Varnish as well as Gamvar Satin Varnish for maximum lightfast colour protection.
