This is an early attempt at painting digitally in Photoshop and I wanted to experiment with painting iridescent colours in this piece. The idea for painting a whimsy of underwater mushrooms and glowing fireflies orbiting around a giant jellyfish stemmed from my love for jellyfish and how their mesmerizing movement through water makes them look like they're flying. From there it only seemed sensible to me that fireflies would be buzzing about and if they're glowing, what else could glow... bioluminescent mushrooms of course.
